Each engine has two of these, one for the intake and one for the exhaust valve, and this is a set of two.

Always replace these when you replace your camshaft. The bottom face of a used cam follower (lifter, tappet) should have a circular pattern on it, indicative of the follower spinning on the lobe of the cam. This is normal and correct operation, and is also why you need to replace cam followers whenever you replace your camshaft, because the pattern has worn into the followers/lifters and is specific to those cam lobes. This is one of the parts that "breaks-in" when an engine is first started. 

Always use a high zinc oil such as Valvoline VR1 in all flat tappet lifter engines. 

You need to oil both the shaft and the face when you install these. It is recommended that you use a sticky assembly lubricant on your cam lobes when assembling ALL flat tappet cam engines.
